Swami Vivekananda on character

Swami Vivekananda, the epoch making spiritual leader of all time, strongly recommended character to be the backbone of a person as well as that of a nation. Throughout His life, He has emphasized on making character and has considered this ideal to be the highest in human life. Here are some most striking sayings on 'character' that fell down from this prodigious prophet's lips:
'Neither money pays, nor name, nor fame, nor learning, it is character that can cleave through adamantive walls of difficulties.'

 

'Each work we do, each thought we think, produces an impression...upon the mind and the sum total of these impressions becomes the tremendous force which is called "character". The character of a man is what he has created for himself; it is the result of the mental and physical actions that he has done in life.'

'...first make character- that is the highest duty you can perform."

'Referring to the history, we see that only that fragment which is fit will survive, and what makes fit to survive but character? ....they alone shall gain the day who are able to show most character in their lives, no matter how far they may be.'
