Swami Vivekananda on women

Friends, 8th March is observed as Women's Day throughout the world, which is today. Before some days, we published an article on Swami Vivekananda's idea on rejuvenation of Women Power. Today, we have decided to post the sayings of this great prophet on women, as a tribute to the women of the world.

Swami Vivekananda, the Vedic seer, knew very well the importance of women in society and He respected them tremendously. He has repeatedly spoken about the rise of women-power to make the world beautiful. Here are some most appealing of them, straight from the prophet's lips:

"All nations have attained greatness by paying proper respect to women. That country and that nation which do not respect women have never become great, nor will ever be in future."

"Educate your women first and leave them to themselves; then they will tell you what reforms are necessary for them. In matters concerning them (women), who are you?"

"...my principle is: each one helps himself... No man shall dictate to a woman; nor a woman to a man... Women will work out their own destinies- much better, too, than men can ever do for them."

"Woman is as courageous as man. Each is equally good in his or her way. What man can bring up a child with such patience, endurance and love as the woman can?"

"The worship of even one spark of Mother in our earthly mother leads to greatness. Worship Her if you want love and wisdom."

"If a man can be a know er of Brahman, why cannot a woman attain to the same knowledge? Therefore I was saying if even one amongst the women became a knower of Brahman, then by the radiance of her personality thousands of women would be inspired and awakened to truth, and great well-being of the country and society would ensue."

"One Vedic teacher excels ten ordinary teachers in glory, a father excels a hundred Vedic teachers in glory; but a mother excels even a thousand fathers in glory."
